Larry the Bird Leaves the Sanlitun Nest This Week

In yet another blow to the city’s vibrant international food scene, American roast chicken shop Larry the Bird has announced it will be departing Sanlitun as of Nov 10.

From the days of their opening back in 2021 and through the years since, we’ve had a particular soft spot for this Migas-owned restaurant and all its offerings. It’s really hard to pick what we liked best – the Waffle Fries, the Chicken Mac n Cheese, Ramen Noodle Soup, and Fried Chicken Sandwiches with rotating toppings were all so damn good.

And now, the choosing is even harder, with Larry the Bird releasing the schedule for their final week with an announcement across WeChat yesterday. In the announcement, they write: “We can’t say how much we love and appreciate all our teammates, staff” with a special shout-out to the regulars who always came by to enjoy “great chicken, a pint or ten, and hanging out with friends on the terrace.”

Although no details were given on whether or not the shop will relocate, we have high hopes that, someday, Larry the Bird will be back better than ever at a new location, with the restaurant signing off “Until next season – whenever that is.”

From now until Nov 10, Larry the Bird is doing some closing specials, namely 20 percent off all beers in store. They’ve also got a party planned for the whole weekend, with more deals, music by the Larry Family DJs, and candid photography by FilmNeverDie.

Larry the Bird’s closing party will be taking place from Saturday, Nov 9 ‘til Sunday, Nov 10, from 3-10pm on both days. Entry is free.
