Dream On: Aerosmith Cancel Upcoming Shanghai Show

US rockers Aerosmith have canned their Shanghai date this week citing local promoters' failure to "meet contractual obligations." They were slated to headline their inaugural China show on Wednesday Aug 21.

It's not only fans in Shanghai who are disappointed. They also cancelled a Saturday night (Aug 24) show in Taipei at the Rock Sonic Day.

The concert was to be Aerosmith's first in the People's Republic and they had previously spoken of their delight at the prospect of performing for their fans in China. In a statement posted on their official website, front man Steven Tyler said he and the band were "extremely upset to have disappointed [their] dedicated fans," before adding that they "look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve."

Rumors on the Internet suggest that ticket sales for the midweek show had been disappointing, especially in light of Metallica's two sold-out shows in Shanghai last week. As a consolation, we offer a bit of Aerosmith video to all of you who are now making alternate plans for Wednesday evening.
