Playlist: Henri Boppe, Manager, Riviera Events Beijing

Playlist is a regular column in which we ask Beijing personalities about their musical tastes and recommendations.

What is your favorite music video?
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson. This music video is a revolution on its own and changed the music industry. It is more a movie than a music video. It’s thanks to MJ that we have MTV.

What record are you most embarrassed about having on your iPod?
There are many songs my friends makes fun of me for when they check out my iPod. I have about 80G of music so for sure there are some embarrassing songs.

What is your favorite TV theme tune?
“I Need a Dollar” from Aloe Blacc for the TV show How to Make It in America. It describes really well how young people and entrepreneurs have to survive to make it in our world today.

Which character from a song would you most like to meet?
The owner of Hotel California!

Which artist would you most like to go for a drink with?
Keith Richards. He is a great musician, and has been in the music industry for so long that there would be so many things to discuss.

What song would you want to be played at your funeral?
“Knocking on Heaven’s Door,” the string quartet version. I’ve always loved that song by Guns N’ Roses. Nice and also not depressing for such an occasion.

If you were a boxer, what would be your entrance music?
Definitely something energetic. I would go for a good hip-hop song, and a song I would use for my training. “California Love” by 2Pac would be a good choice. The crowd would love it, and as they say, once you have the crowd on your side, anything is possible!

HENRI BOPPE’S 5-SONG PLAYLIST
“Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses
One of the greatest guitar songs ever played, with a great solo by Slash, a guitar genius.

“One Drop” by Bob Marley
I chose this one as people might not know it. I always have Bob Marley songs on my iPod when I travel. It really helps me to fall asleep on the plane.

“Still D.R.E” by Dr. Dre
This song was one of my favorites when it came out. The entire album is the bomb!

“Le Retour du Rap Français” by Kerry James
A real French hip-hop song like we used to hear during the golden years of French hip-hop. Great lyrics and rhythm.

“Baby I’m Yours” by Breakbot
This song will always give me positive vibes when I wake up in the morning.
