Talking Pints: Party Like a Sailor and Euro Championships Finale
This weekend marks the final of the European Championships [groan]. Football fans across the city seem to have thoroughly enjoyed the football fiesta the last three weeks (judging by their remains trudging through the streets at 5am most mornings). A fantastic tournament draws it all to a close on Sunday night/Monday morning when Spain take on Italy looking to retain their crown as Kings of Europe. Let's hope the last game keeps in line with the rest of the tournament which has borne witness to some breath-taking performances. Please, footballing gods, don't let it go to penalties or there could be a lot of sickies being pulled across Beijing on Monday morning.
Cheese & Wine are offering 20% off their menu in anticipation of a refurbishment. It might be a good idea to head along for a sample of their wares at a discount. It could be your last chance for a while.
Slowboat Brewery are launching their latest tipples around town. The Dragon Boat Summer Ale and the Dogwatch 1600 Wheat should now be available at all good stockists. Check out their website for where to find a pint.
Tonight sees the climax of the Belgian Beer Competition at Beer Mania. One lucky Belgian beer cicerone will win a trip to Belgium. Just for knowing their beer - not a bad night's work at all. Head along to find out anything you didn't already know about Belgian brew.
Elsewhere, the highly-regarded French house DJ Louis La Roche is in town dropping tunes at Migas. Those Haze residents will be at it again with another home-grown night, and Lantern will present a night of dubstep with The Drop featuring OSHI and TNEM, and a guest appearance from Howie Lee.
Try not to get too slugged on Friday night though; on Saturday the Soviet-era aircraft carrier hosts another party in Tianjin. Buses to the party leave around 5pm from Wudaokou and Chaoyang Park so be there handy. The price of your ticket includes travel there and back. Check out the Beijinger blog on Monday for a selection of snaps from the party.
If you don't fancy the trek out to Tianjin on Saturday, there's plenty happening in our own backyard. DJ Saul D is up on the Migas terrace, Pete Herbert will be spinning at Haze and Lantern will host an array of local talent at the fifth volume of their Homebase Electric series.
Enjoy a (hopefully rain-free) party of a weekend.
