More Foreign Academics Coming To China

Fast economic growth in China is not only attractive for businessmen, but also for foreign scholars, the New York Times reports. More foreign academics are coming to China due to the nation’s policy to welcome embrace foreign professors to lift its international competitiveness. The 2008 economic crisis hastened budget cuts in Western educational institutions, while there is a growing trend in China of lavishing its renmenbi on educational programs. But even though a rising number of foreign professors are coming to China, few show interest in working for Chinese universities in the long term.
