The Beijinger Beer Festival 2011: Introducing the Beers - Part 2

Tickets are now on sale for the Beijinger Beer Festival, which takes place at Villa Castanea on Saturday, July 23. There will be 34 beers there for the sampling, thanks to local producers and suppliers Great Leap Brewery, Heineken, Vandergeeten, DXcel and Villa Castanea. Beer lovers will also be pleased to hear that there will be talks, including one from Carl at Great Leap on brewing your own beer.

To make a day of it we’ve also signed up local bands and DJs to play for you all day – Patrick Yu, Usami, Nassdak and Bitesize Buddha will man the decks while Ajinai and the Randy Abel Stable take to the stage. We’ll be telling you more about the bands later on but now it’s time to focus on the most important aspect of the day, the beer:

Heineken (Netherlands) ABV 5.0% – Heineken tent
“A continental lager that has regained its reputation since becoming premium only”

Pale Ale No. 6 (China) ABV 5.8% – Great Leap Brewery tent
“A standard ale that's light and easy to drink. We'd even try the first five”

Acme Pale Ale (USA) ABV 5.0% – DXcel tent
“A pale ale that harks back to the origins of Californian brewing”

Leffe (Belgium) ABV 6.6% – Vandergeeten tent
“A blonde beer whose strength masks its sweetness and just a hint of white chocolate”

Strongbow (UK) ABV 4.5% – Heineken tent
“A delicious crisp cider that deserves to benefit from cider's current revival”

Brooklyn Lager (USA) ABV 5.2% – DXcel tent
“Not a lager in the traditional mode, but muscular like its namesake”

Franziskaner (Germany) ABV 5.0% – Vandergeeten tent
“The Germans know to make beer – and this is one of their best”

Crown Lager (Australia) ABV 4.9% – DXcel tent
“Australians are a proud people, but in this case they deserve to be”

We’ll have more beers for you tomorrow. If you can't wait you can guess from the logos at the bottom of this post.

Want to get in on the action? Tickets are RMB 100, which includes five free beer samples, transport to and from the festival, and other goodies.

Tickets are available now at The Irish Volunteer, The Green Cap, Pomme O'Shea's, Paddy O'Shea's, The Stumble Inn, Great Leap Brewery, Grinders and Lush while stocks last.
