Susu Pho Sure: New Vietnamese Restaurant Opens

If current trends are any barometer, Southeast Asian food is set to be this summer's cupcakes. A spate of new Southeast Asian restaurants are opening up right now - we recently reviewed the reliable Cocolol at Dongdaqiao Lu/Guanghua Lu, and Va Va Voom is set to expand its reach over the coming weeks with two new Vietnamese/Southeast Asian concepts in the Guo Son mall at Dongzhimen.

Today, new Vietnamese restaurant Susu opens over in Qianliang Hutong Xixiang, just east of the National Art Museum.

Run by former Stone Boat owners Amy Li and Jonathan Ansfield - who also opened Thai restaurant Tuk Tuk - Susu has two chefs from Saigon working the kitchen. Lunch sets feature pho, Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and banh xeo crepes, while at dinner you've got caramelized claypot dishes, Vietnamese stews and "the fabled La Vong Fish."

They're set in a little courtyard, and also offer cocktails and Vietnamese coffee. All this sounds very pleasant - definitely one to look out for in the coming weeks. We'll get a review up on the site in the near future, so keep an eye on TheBeijinger.com for more.

In the meantime, here's a handy map to help you find Susu.
