Mojitos with Japanese Flair: Lagoon Opens in the CBD
Lagoon seems like your standard-issue Japanese bar. There are a few token tables, but you know you’re supposed to sit at the bar. There are whiskeys and sake (both from RMB 40) – although the selection is more limited than in most Japanese bars – and a number of classic cocktails (RMB 40). They also pour an ice-cold Asahi (RMB 30). But then Lagoon veers off the well-beaten path with a list of almost 100 mojitos (RMB 50-60).
That’s “mojito” in the sense of any cocktail – be it gin, tequila, champagne or the traditional rum base – featuring sugar, soda, lime juice and mint leaves.
Tapas, pizzas and spicy wings are sensibly priced (average RMB 30-60), and you can book in advance for packages including two hours of free-flow drinks and snacks (from RMB 150 per person). I see a return visit on the horizon.
Good for: Mojito lovers
