Beijing Measles Outbreak Continues Spread to Vancouver, 11 Cases Reported
A Beijing measles outbreak that began months ago continues to spread -- in Vancouver.
Eleven cases of measles have now been reported in the Canadian city, and have been traced to a March 21 Air China flight between the two cities, according to CBC. Another flight, on April 4, also Air China 991 from Beijing to Vancouver, may have transported passengers carrying measles, as at least once case has been traced to that lfight also.
At least 23 people were infected with measles in late January when the outbreak in Beijing was first reported.
"Passengers on the flight should also watch for the following symptoms until the 21-day incubation period is finished on April 25: fever; cough; runny nose; conjunctivitis or pink eye; red rash," said Vancouver Coastal Health.
