Probably deserves a 3.5 but can't justify giving the place a 4.
After all the pimping of 3sums on The Beijinger I was expecting big things from this place, so was a little surprised to find the place quite quiet for their 88rmb all you can eat deal.
The food is actually very good. If you find Kro's nest Pizza's to be a greasy tasteless monstrosity then this is definitely the place for you. Nice thin crispy base with a good sauce and some very well thought out topping combinations. They have obviously put a lot of thought into it and I hope it pays off for them.
The sliders again are nice, but let down a bit by the buns a bit which are quite dry. The fries are terrible but the tata tots are fantastic.
A couple of things which let the price down however. The all you can eat deal is great and would defintely see myself and others returning on a regular basis, but I wouldn't come here and pay the full prices.
20rmb for a small slice of pie or a slider is just not good value for money, especially when you consider the other dining options in the area. Sanyuanqiao, in my opinion, is the sort of place you go to gorge yourself on cheap eats which sort of leads into my second issue.
This maybe a little unfair as 3sums is a new business and is searching for it's own identity, but there was definitely a strange atmosphere about the place. I wouldn't say it was pretentious but there was definitely the sense that everyone there was a bit on edge - the customers and the staff.
The music was absolutely terrible and sounded like '100 greatest 1996 Garage Hits You wish you'd never heard'. It made the whole atmosphere a bit school disco in all honesty.
There was also a large group there that seemed to be led by a couple of failed Hipsters who swanned round like they owned the place (maybe they did?) and that was very offputting.
I will try again in a few weeks to see if things have settled down for them, like I said the pizza is great but I can't help thinking that their gourmet approach sticks out like a sore thumb on that food street. Maybe better suited for Goulou.

Re: Good Food, Strange Vibe
lol. Was it your first time eating pizza? Pizza was downright bad, drinks were made with powder, and the sliders were barely OK, not to mention that sliders suck to begin with. There are way better places for pizza and burgers on the same block. Should get the sliders right before adding bad pizza to the mix.

Lack of a thick undercooked base and artery clogging grease does not automatically equal bad pizza in most parts of the civilised world.
But hey, why would anyone want flavour when they could have obesity instead USA USA USA USA etc.....

So, no, you haven't had pizza before (nor did you try 3sums because the crust was undercooked (hard to do considering it was like a cracker)). Eatalia, La Pizza, even the Den has this crust and way better tasting pizza than this place.
Also, you are an anti-American idiot.

Re: Good Food, Strange Vibe
Quick question, is this 88rmb deal good for only groups of 6 or more or could my friend and I go as a group of two as well?
Thanks!
