Review of Aimo Town

Have to say I'm a little surprised to see the negative reviews about this place!
Yes the fuwuyuans can be a little surly and clueless, but hey - aside from Haidilao where is service in Chinese restaurants NOT like that?
It has some great outdoor decking that's perfect for late spring and early autumn. And summer if you don't mind the heat. The interior is decorated in ethnic Yunnanese style - try to imagine a much nicer version of Helen's/Lakers without graffiti on the wall and you're somewhere close.
The food is great - I was shocked to read about stomach cramps - I must have been to this place about 20 or 30 times and I've never had any problems there.
In particular the Chicken Salad (瓦片手撕鸡) is amazing. Shredded chicken with lime, vinegar and chilli.
The Roast Aubergine stuffed with minced pork is also a tasty option.
The potato cake (干煸洋芋丝 I think?!) is like a big hash brown. Not bad at all.
If you're feeling exotic go for the mint salad or the moss (not to my tastes, but hey - one to tell people you tried!).
I'd say you'll probably be looking at between 30 and 50 per person before drinks, and big bottles of Yanjing/Dali/Qingdao are about 15 a piece. If you want to get your drink on afterwards - El Nido and Cellar Door are literally just around the corner.
