Best park in Beijing if you want to avoid the crowds, great for running

Most public parks in Beijing are very crowded. The Olympic park seems to not suffer from this. They also have 3 and 10 km runs marked on the pavement including a softer running track surface. Within easy reach of subway.

What day and time of the day did you go? Did it rain?

We went on a weekend when it was still reasonably warm, and it was horrible:
- tons of people, including groups with loud hailers
- people camping everywhere
- all those guys renting those battery cars and honking every few meters
- not a single quiet corner in the park and also nothing really worth looking at.

For me never again.

I love running in Olympic Forest Park! When I've gone, it's always been fairly early, when it's just the exercisers. I love that the south part of the park has a painted running trail. The bridge over 5th ring connects to a northern section, which is where I do most of my running since I live 1/2 mile from the north east gate. The northern section is rarely crowded, and if you're there early enough, you don't have to worry about cars running you over.
Running later in the day is difficult because of the crowds.
