Kipp's Picks: Be Stupid, Sunset Brazil, Cu Brew Release, The Sun Society, and 8-Bit Reopens
This weekend, the party continues as August has finally emerged in all of its sweaty glory. Get ready for a stupid fun Friday on the Uper+ terrace, Capoeira Mandinga, baijiu beers, and 8-Bit’s triumphant return. Don’t fret the sweat ladies and gentlemen.
Aug 7: Be Stupid
Prepare yourself for another edition of Be Stupid, as they organize for you an evening full of good vibes, DJs, live experimental music from FM3 and White +, and in Gongti no less. In an area surrounded by yucky EDM blasting from mega clubs, Uper+ are giving these cultured party animals free reign to create one of the only terrace parties in the city music snobs and party kids will equally be attending. Come for the live music and stay for the DJs, including Ou Yang, Kaize, Shen Yue, Sun Meng, and Anton. Free. 10pm. Uper+
Aug 8: The Sun Society Presents Zhala and Demonslayer
Check out the cosmic pop of Zhala and the other worldly hip-hop techniques of Demonslayer with The Sun Society this Saturday at Migas. The Sun Society is a new series of shows and parties brought to you by the eccentric minds behind Fake Music Media, and will showcase non-denominational offerings of music from local and international artists. Aug 8: Sunset Brazil
Capoeira Mandinga Beijing have organized an entire day celebrating the vibrant party culture of Brazil. There will be plenty to see and do, with music provided by Templo Do Samba & Buu, live capoeira, and lots hip shaking Brazilian dances. RMB 100 (includes free drink and raffle ticket). 8pm. Aug 8: World Baijiu Day: Cu Brew Release Celebration
As part of World Baijiu Day, 京A will be releasing their brand-new Cu Brew, an extra-strong ale brewed with the help of the same ingredients used in baijiu production – cu (baijiu's special fermenting agent) and red sorghum. Baijiu skeptics and lovers alike shouldn't miss out on this highly experimental brew making history (likely 京A's highest alcohol beer to record). Free. 5pm. Jing-A Taproom
Aug 8: 8-Bit is Back!
On the eighth day of the eighth month, in the year of our lord 2015, 8-Bit returns in all of its gaming glory and at their brand new location at 13 Beiluogu Xiang. Blow the dust off your favorite game cartridges at their Loading Party this weekend, and also take full advantage of their food and drink specials, including sushi burritos (say whaaat?), RMB 30 Arrow Factory drafts, and all cocktails will be RMB 35.
