Though I really hate to push the place, as I would not like it to change, I love The Pool Bar!
The owner is a great guy. The Chinese who come there are very friendly, young people that I enjoy chatting and shooting pool with. The local expats who come in from time to time and the occassional visitor, like me, are also fun to talk to.
Put your name up on the board and see how long you can hold the table for. I love the area and while there I love to hang out at this place.
Upstairs is small group seating for friends to chat. There is a large drinks menu (with very inexpensive prices for Beijing and REAL drinks), good music (if you like quiet, lounge, so you can chat music, which I do), and friendly people. I kept meaning to go further afield while staying in the Hutong, but always ended up on multiple trips there just hanging out at The Pool Bar and enjoying the company there.
Gets going around 8pm (opens at 6pm) and stays open as late as the customers want.
