Authentic japanese food and a great deal for RMB275

I recently took a little trip to to the center of town, Qian men Dajie, to go shopping at new H&M.

When looking for somewhere to eat that was not over the top but also not Chinese dumplings or KFC , i took a little wonder towards Ch'ien Men 23 which i had heard so much about. Here i discovered a great japanese place called Shiro Matsu which had a set menu and was a little more special than the typical japanese buffet joint which is usually full of drunk chinese or foreigners who have drunk too much of the free sake and have ended up vomiting all over them selves...

Anyway, this place was nice and the food was great too and not over decorated with Mayo...I had was not expecting the service and the quality of the food to be great for the cheap price of the set menu i decided to have (257RMB net for 3 courses). The rest of the a la carte menu is a little more expensive and I think i would only have it if work was paying for entertainment or if i was being taken out on a date....but the set menu is great value.

My meal started with something called the tobiko salad which was delish! Then there was a small sushi platter which i watched the sushi chef make from scratch while i was sitting at the long sushi bar. The sushi platter was fantastic; and i know my sushi since i have been to japan on many occasions for work and love to go to the sushi bars of Tokyo and Osaka to eat as much sushi as i can fit in my tummy before coming back to Beijing where i know it is not the same...

I found the quality of the ingredients used for the sushi platter where excellent and each piece hand made to perfection. Quiet the treat if you love quality sushi and sashimi. Finally i picked one of the 8 main courses available with this deal. That was yummy too!!! The serving were big enough and the quality exceptional. The staff at the restaurant are very attentive, whether you are having the set menu or ordering of the a la carte menu.

It was a great overall experience and i highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic japanese food and for a great deal to enjoy while visiting the center of town. Specially great after a good shopping trip in the area!!!
