Located on the ground floor of Hotel G, a friend first suggested Morio as an alternative to the always-packed Hatsune. Prices are similar, and the quality of the cuisine also. However, at Morio, you get the chance to dine in a relatively relaxing, calm space (check out some of the screened-off rooms) in a beautiful space dominated by dark wood and soothing green. I went on two different occasions, and the menu has changed since I first went about a month ago. On the first trip, I tried an excellent pork ramen with meltingly tender meat. A friend tried onigiri, or Japanese rice balls, that were large and heftily stuffed. The tuna/avocado appetizer was to die for, with crispy slices of browned garlic that I hadn't expected. On my second visit, we tried some "California-style" sushi rolls, which I felt were at the least comparable to Hatsune's, and some traditional Japanese appetizers. The Saketini is strooooooong, and the service is quite attentive.
