This Tamarind is a bit more expensive than the likes of Ganges and Indian Kitchen, but the food is really top-notch. The thali lunches work out at around RMB 70-80 per head (including the 15% service charge, that is), and include a few meat curries/vegetarian starters, kebabs from the tandoor, rice and naan. The prawns and chicken from the tandoor are amazing, and the curries have real flavor - butter chicken that tastes of something as opposed to being the bland dish that you order for your friend who doesn't like spicy food.
It's still pretty new, but if they can maintain the high quality, Tamarind will continue to reward anyone who is prepared to spend a little bit extra on good Indian food. A decent dinner for two should work out at around RMB 300-350.
