I went to this place with my girlfriend a few weeks ago. The design of the restaurant is eye-pleasing and the overall feeling is quite good - they obviously spent a lot of time and money on the interior and exterior design. However, when it comes down to it, just like many other restaurants with poorly trained staff, the service leaves much to be desired. We sat down and for 5 minutes were not given a menu - I had to get up out of my chair and hunt down a server to give us a menu. We ordered some food, including 2 bowls of white rice. The food was served in a decent amount of time and didn't taste bad, although the portions were small. The problem was that they brought out one bowl of white rice, which my girlfriend and I split and subsequently finished. Then 15 minutes later they brought out the other bowl of white rice. Is it that hard to bring 2 bowls of white rice out together at the same time? Seems strange to me. Also, at least 3 times during the dinner a server brought some food to our table, and when we told them it wasn't ours, they realized they had it brought it to the wrong table. The ultimate kicker was that when we asked to take the leftovers home, the waitress told us that there would be a 1 RMB (yes, one renminbi) fee for the box and bag to take the stuff home. I have never had this experience before - even the crappy restaurants in Beijing don't charge money to take the leftovers home. So I paid the fee and decided I will never be going back to this place. These people have a great concept, great location, and great decor - if they could just get the service right then it would actually be a wonderful place.
