UPDATE: I'd have to update this review by stating that the newer pastor turned out to be pretty problematic, as well. Sermon quality was pretty poor. A fair number of people left, and it's not even clear if the church will be continuing.
After being nearly run out of existence by the problematic previous leader, Beijing Baptist Church has been recovering in recent years under the current pastor:
Pros:
1. BBC provides Beijing with a conservative worship alternative to the more contemporary style of Beijing International Christian Fellowship and its satellites.
2. The preaching labors to be strictly Biblical, and sermons are available on their website so people can learn about the church in advance if they wish.
3. The pastor is very friendly, and easy to talk to if you so desire.
4. A wide variety of attenders, from a varied background both racially and culturally.
Cons:
1. Generally less than friendly, other than the pastor. One can go several times and never be spoken to.
2. Though the preaching is generally centered on the Bible, it is also mediocre at best. Sermons tend to revolve around man, rather than God.
3. The organization is muddled, since this is a Independent Fundamental Baptist church which now has a large percentage of non-IFB attenders. Leadership is disorganized and somewhat fragmented. They have been years trying to work out these problems, but with little success.
4. Little to no outreach into the expat community around them. If you find them, great. If you don't, you'd never know they existed.
