Jianwai SOHO Blaze Video

Building number 6 of the well known commercial and residential complex Jianwai SOHO in south Beijing was hit by a fire on Monday afternoon that reportedly affected floors 22 to 24.

According to China Daily, “The cause of the blaze is still unknown, but there are theories ranging from a cigarette butt to a faulty air-conditioner… Zhou Peng, a project manager at Pinnacle Realty Management International, the company managing the building, refused to comment… A Chaoyang district fire fighting bureau official said the cause of the fire hadn't been determined.”

The video below shows the amount of smoke produced by the blaze, as well as the black stain the fire has left on the side of the building.

I'm certain it was caused by a cigarette butt as people in this country don't know how to dispose of them safely.
