Charly Kusaksizoglu: Mixing It At Beijing’s Highest Bar
Charly Kusaksizoglu looks down on all other mixologists in Beijing – at least when he’s mixing cocktails at the new Atmosphere Bar, perched on the 80th floor of the China World Tower. We asked Charly what it’s like to scale such sky-scraping heights on a daily basis.
How high up is Atmosphere Bar?
The tower’s 330m high, with 81 floors. It’s Beijing’s highest building.
Pretty high, then. Do you take the stairs?
Not unless I want some exercise.
What’s the highest you’ve ever been?
The IFC building in Shanghai.
Are you afraid of heights?
Only in open spaces.
What’s it like working up there?
You can see everywhere – it’s quite unusual. Everything looks so small.
What about the drinks?
We offer over 300 cocktails and vintage spirits. Try the Stanford cocktail (RMB 75).
Anything else we should know?
Design by renowned American designer Adam D. Tihany. Oh, and there’s live music every night and a resident DJ.
Atmosphere Bar’s soft opening takes place this month.
