Weekend Live Music Roundup: The Gar, Dead Farmers, Scream Night and Laowais
The international acts front is a bit quiet this weekend, but sometimes we need only one band to keep it loud and crazy. Aussie punks Dead Farmers are ready to pour all their energy into your ears and body and then blend everyone in the little mosh pit at D-22 tonight.
Meanwhile, local laowais are not taking a rest. Laowai bands and "hybrids" are all over town: "The best band in Beijing" – The Amazing Insurance Salesmen (Friday), ACID Live (Friday), Redbucks (Friday), Jess Meider (Saturday), Nakoma (Sunday), Christmas (all weekend) and more.
For Chinese it's a weekend to celebrate come backs. After almost a whole year of silence, The Gar are back with their new bass player and they promised to make this Saturday night at Yugong Yishan smashing. But Scream Record puts me in a dilemma: they'll have a party on the same night in the same neighborhood at MAO. And don't forget that Faye Wong is back again after three concerts last weekend.
