Talking Pints: Miao Wong Fundraiser at Lantern This Friday

Today's Talking Pints is dominated by an appeal to all of you to spend at least a bit of your Friday night getting down to Lantern helping out Miao Wong, a friend of the Beijinger who has contributed a huge amount to Beijing nightlife and now needs a bit of help to get over a serious illness.

If you've enjoyed going to Lantern, or the INTRO festival, or The House, or any event involving Acupuncture Records over the past few years, you've probably heard of Miao Wong. If you haven't, Miao is Acupuncture's Managing Director and one of the people in the Beijing scene who has devoted pretty much every waking hour to making Beijing nightlife bigger, better and more fun.

Recently, Miao was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently in hospital, where she'll undergo surgery on Friday (Apr 6).

Fittingly, the community is rallying around and putting on a party at Lantern on Friday night to raise funds for Miao's treatment. Every kuai of your RMB 100 entrance fee will be donated towards helping pay for Miao's medical bills as she fights to regain full fitness and to get back on the dance floor.

DJs at the party will include Miao's Acupuncture comrades Weng Weng and ELVIS.T, as well as Chozie, Patrick Yu and Saul D. For more information, call Svante at 139 1020 9533.

Besides putting on great parties, Miao is a lovely person and a friend to many of us who work in this community, from DJs and clubbers, journalists and promoters and far beyond.

There isn't really a better definition of "good cause" this weekend than this party, so if you've ever been to one of Miao's parties, or just want to help out, get down to Lantern and show your support.
