The View From Gongti: Beijing Guoan 4 - 1 Shanghai East Asia

Beijing Guoan kicked off their 2013 CSL season in impressive fashion with a 4-1 victory over Shanghai East Asia on Friday night in front of a huge crowd of over 41,000 at Worker’s Stadium.

The first half was full of action-packed play at both ends of the field. Guoan opened up scoring on a corner when defender Lang Zheng was gifted a header, followed up moments later by another goal, this time scored by Joffre Guerron after Piao Cheng hit the cross bar.

Within a minute, the visitors pulled one back, but the Beijingers would return their lead to two just before the half through a Wang Xiaolong shot that took a lucky bounce off the keeper. More luck for Beijing in the second half when a East Asia defender put one in his own goal.

Guoan will next face Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the Asian Champions' League this Wednesday night (Mar 13) at Workers' Stadium.
