Talking Pints: Two On, Two Off

A two-day working week is almost as great as a seven-day one is bad. How are you gonna spend this hardly-earned respite? Read on for some suggestions.

For a start, there's the much-anticipated grand opening of Great Leap Brewery's Brewpub on Saturday (June 15), which coincides with the inaugural Beijing Beer Geeks' Festival over at Xihai48 Creative Center in Xicheng District. And don't forget about the second annual Beijing Craft Beer Festival at the sleek Galaxy SOHO next week (June 21). While we're spreading the crafty love, why not stop by Big Smoke Bistro to check out the new 京A setup over there. And Fubar is set to introduce its own summer wheat brew in the coming days courtesy of Tipsy Face Microbrewery.

Away from craft beer, Beer Mania will mark its eighth anniversary on July 6 with a Super Hero Costume Party at their Sanlitun south home. They even provided a handy link to costumes on Taobao. The Beijing Beatles will provide the soundtrack, and there will be plenty of discounts and free drink.

Now to just a few of the many highlights in the next few days:

  • The Drop embarks on a special 22nd edition tonight (June 14) at 2 Kolegas with cream of the city's all-star bassters performing.
  • Centro launches its summer lounge Cuban-style tonight with Havana Nights, where you can enjoy Cuban dancers, a Cuban band, on-site Cigar rollers and Havana rum.
  • Party like it's Holi at 2 Kolegas on Saturday (June 15) as Beijing holds its first Color Punch party from 4pm. Make sure you dress in gear you won't mind binning on Sunday.
  • Check out Ceephax Acid Crew at Dada tomorrow night (June 15) as he whips the crowd into a frenzy with his ad-libbed vocals and amazing stage presence.
  • Seminal English DJ Pete Tong performs at the Great Wall Music Party Celebration Party at Tango tomorrow night, too. You can get in free before midnight.

Lots more to do this weekend check here for details.

Just want to say Pete Tong was crap on Saturday night! Boring as hell.
Especially compared to the Chinese DJ who was on before him, who was brilliant, he built the crowd up really well,no alcohol needed, I was jumping up and down like popcorn, anyone know who he is?
