Capital Bites: Alibi Opens at Gongti, Great Leap Lunch Deal, and More
Theodore Gao from Kro’s Nest and his partner have just introduced Alibi, a new joint for salads, sandwiches, hotdogs, and burgers. The American-inspired eatery opened yesterday north of Worker’s Stadium in Kiosk's former space, and reservations can be made on their website.
This Wednesday, SALT is holding the first of their Live Jazz Wednesdays, featuring sultry French songstress “Mademoiselle” Marie-Claude LaBel TRIO playing gypsy jazz from the likes of Piaf, Brassens, Montant, and also French jazz standards. The group will be playing every Wednesday from 7-9pm.
A new lunch special has arrived at Beer Mania with a weekly set menu, from Monday-Friday 11.30am-2pm; RMB 45 for two courses and RMB 60 for three courses. This week’s menu includes homemade chicken liver pâté to start, grilled sea bass served with zucchini spaghetti and olives mashed potato for the main course, and Alsace apple pie for dessert.
Restaurant bar Twilight has a new lunch deal and brunch on the way: Monday-Friday 11.30am-4pm set lunches (think burgers, spaghetti and curry plates) starting from RMB 49. Lunch includes coffee, cocktails, and wi-fi in case you need to squeeze in a bit of work time.
Great Leap also has a lunch special at their flagship brewpub, which opened June 14. RMB 10 off all burgers and sandwiches from 11.30am-2pm Monday to Friday.
To get your munchies on after late night drinks, head to Brussels. They are introducing new kitchen hours for weekends, and will be serving food, predominantly of the burger and hot dog variety, until 3am Sunday-Thursday, and until 4am on Friday and Saturday. Don’t forget to lather on the drinks as well at this Belgian-inspired bar – Belgian beers, Hendricks Tonic and other drinks will be available until close. The bar at this establishment only calls it quits when the customers go home.
For sushi fans of Max Levy's former Okra-Sushi, Sake and Cocktails, their new restaurant Okra 1949 has delayed its opening, awaiting final fixtures to arrive at the new venue. If all goes well, Okra is set to open in late July, but the date may be subject to change. We here at the Beijinger are definitely looking forward to the new opening and Max Levy's newest project.
