Where to Get Your Breakfast Fry Up in the Capital (There’s Even a Vegan Option)

For a Brit like me, there really isn't any better way to kick off the weekend than with a good old Full English breakfast. Say what you want about British food, but a good breakfast fry up is definitely something we have down. So without further ado here is out list of where you can get your fry up fix in Beijing.

Arrow Factory

Along with doing my personal favorite fish and chips in town, Arrow Factory also get my vote for the best breakfast fry up because they use proper English style sausages and bacon. Simply called The Full English (RMB 80), it consists of two pork sausages, two rashers of bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, sautéed potatoes, grilled tomato, buttered toast and two eggs in your chosen style.

Now, this is a spectacular brunch for meat lovers, however Arrow Factory recently introduced a brand-new breakfast that’s bound to become a favorite for any vegans. Their Vegan English (RMB 75) has two omnipork sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, sautéed potatoes, grilled tomato, toast with guacamole and scrambled tofu.

Note: Arrow Factory brunch is only available on Saturday and Sunday

Jing A

At the CBD Jing-A they have a special brunch menu that is only available at this location, which brings it big with the CBD Full American Breakfast (RMB 120) -- not English, but still counts -- made up of pork sausage, house-made bacon, roasted cherry tomatoes, smashed new potatoes, toast with a pancake stack, maple syrup and eggs cooked your way.

But don’t be worried if you can’t get to the CBD Jing-A, as all their other locations have a Breakfast Plate (RMB 110) on offer (not available at the new Wukesong branch until Jul 23). This sees house-made bacon, pork sausage, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, hash browns, toast and two eggs cooked your way plus your choice of either smashed avocado or sausage gravy all served up for the perfect way to start your day.

Peach by Hulu

Sticking with the makings of a true English Breakfast, Peach by Hulu’s The Brit-kkie (RMB 58) sees all your breakfast staples: bacon, mushroom, eggs (scrambled or sunny side up), tomato, baked beans and pork sausage with some added spinach for a slight twist.

Toast at The Orchid

It should come as no surprise that one of Beijing’s hottest brunch spots Toast at The Orchid has a fry up (of sorts) on their menu. Bringing you a slightly less traditional, but still delicious breakfast, Toast at The Orchid has The Full Chinglish (RMB 98). Here Toast’s own pork sausages are served up with hash browns, poached egg and greens along with a slice of challah bread.

Beersmith

Only introducing their brunch menu a few months ago, Beersmith is the only fry up on this list that has one of the most truly traditional components of an English breakfast: the contentious black pudding. Along with black pudding the Beersmith Pub Breakfast + Beverage (RMB 98) includes eggs, Cumberland sausage, bacon, rocket salad, grilled tomato and baked beans. You then also get a choice of a coffee, tea or craft beer to wash the whole thing down with.

Plan B

The fry up served by Plan B almost gives slight Shakshuka vibes with their Western Breakfast Skillet (RMB 80) combining seasoned roasted potatoes, peppers and onions which are then topped with bacon, chorizo sausage, cheddar cheese and two eggs. Now, you have to admit adding cheese to a fry up sounds like a pretty banging idea.

Lily’s American Diner

Lily’s American Diner keeps things pretty simple with their Jumbo Breakfast (RMB 95) which is made up of two eggs, two strips of bacon, one slice of country ham, two sausages, toast plus hash browns. Although the bacon and sausage isn’t what you’d class as “proper” British bacon and sausage, this big breakfast is a sure fire way to kick off your weekend, especially if you’re nursing a hangover.

Wiggly Jiggly's

If you’re looking for the most bang for your buck then Wiggly Jiggly’s have you covered with the cheapest fry up on our list, their English Breakfast is a mere RMB 48. Here you have your usual breakfast fare of fried eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, baked beans and mushrooms along with some chips thrown in for good measure.
