SALT in the Wind: Restaurant Looks for New Home after Six Lido Years

SALT is seeking a new home after six years in the Lido area, the restaurant said in a statement, ending speculation after customers visited the venue recently and found it closed.

"After six great years at 9 Jiangtai Xi Lu in Lido, SALT restaurant is moving house."

"Several new locations are currently being considered, and I will keep you up to date via saltrestaurantbeijing.com and direct email," Jennifer Eden, SALT's marketing director said via e-mail. No timetable was given as to when that new venue might appear, but Eden said that SALT's catering services would continue as normal.

Beijing Boyce summed up SALT's place in Beijing's recent, non-Chinese culinary history: "It seems ages ago, but really isn’t, when Gaby Alves left Alameda and then opened SALT, or even when Daniel Urdaneta left SALT as chef and went on, with Alex Molina, to open Mosto, Modo and, soon, Moka. Alameda begat Salt, Salt begat Mosto and Terra, Mosto begat Modo and Moka. Time flies in Beijing."
