UPDATED: Pervert or Troll? Subway Creep Hunts Female Calves on Beijing Metro

Leg man: unidentified assailant fondles women's legs from underneath subway benches.

See our Comments section below for an update: Like losing a mobile phone or wallet wasn't enough to worry about, now there's a new hazard on the Beijing Subway: some perv who lies in wait under a subway bench and strokes the calves of unsuspecting women.

As shown in the photo above and the video below, on Saturday afternoon on Line 2 near Yonghegong, an unidentified man about 30-years-old hid himself under a subway bench and began caressing the calves of women seated above him. The female passengers apparently did not notice the fondling at first, but then jumped up when they realized what was happening. The man ran off the train at the next stop.

There were few passengers on the subway at the time, and even though other passenger noticed the photographer taking video of the incident, no one stopped the molester. However, subway monitors have apparently caught this weirdo's image at other stops on Line 2, in the same attire.

Even the advice our friends in Shanghai gave to female Metro riders there to preserve their modesty and avoid on-train sexual harassment wouldn't apply here. Despite offering tips on eye contact and knee position, fending off underfoot attackers and calf protection are sadly not covered.

Watch the video below and be careful on your commute home this evening.

Britomart: interesting point. I'm sure the police would be keen to locate the photographer also.

Interesting aside that no one but I would think of: this incident reminds me of something that happened after the Titanic sank. Bruce Ismay, the ship's owner, escaped in Collapsible Lifeboat C. In his testimony, Ismay said that after Titanic sank, the survivors in his boat discovered four "Chinamen or Filipinos" hidden beneath the benches. This is not possible in a boat with 40 people in it that collapses to a height of only several inches when stored, but does establish some type of pattern of bench-hiding among Chinese males.

Please rephrase.

"This did not happen, but it proves that..."

Makes no sense whatsoever.

It's better to be a smartass than a dumbass.
