Talking Pints: Dada Wants Raw Meat, Plus More Super Bowl Parties

The year 2011 was the year of Swag Sound, a party-series for an ambitious group of fresh-off-the-plane wannabe DJs who messed around with their fresh-off-the-plane controllers and dished out a swath of new music that I would've liked to believe Beijing had never heard before. It was the first time I met Jeff, now known as Trap master DJ Shackup, and had the pleasure of dancing with several of the cities current movers and shakers in the music scene in places like Siif and School Bar.

Swag Sound has since broken up, but more recently, a new gig at Dada has been born. It's called Raw Meat and takes place every Thursday. Those who want to join the jam session of fresh DJ talent can contact bloodzboi@gmail.com. If you just want to dance, head Dada-wards at 10pm.

Chinese New Year starts next week (or earlier for some), which means those of you who aren't getting out of Beijing are probably thinking you'll be left to drink in your homes as your only option. Well, thank the beer gods, there are a handful of places that are troopers and staying open the entire holiday. Slow Boat Brewery is one of them, and we'll get you a full list in the coming days.

One perk to sticking it out in the city: The Feb 3 Super Bowl parties mean you can start drinking at 6.30am. We have a list of places where this is possible, but a couple more bars have joined the fray including Home Plate Sanlitun, who promises a buffet with delectables like biscuits and gravy, free flow coffee and Tsingtao for RMB 200, or RMB 150 if you get the ticket in advance. If you show up wearing the merchandise of the winning team, you'll walk out a free shot drunker.
