World Cup or Otherwise, Make These Your Beijing Weekend Goals

Two members of Hot Chip are landing at Migas on Saturday. Scroll down to find out more

Certainly it's on your radar by now that the 2014 World Cup has kicked off, but if you don't know where to watch it yet, we have a comprehensive list here.

We're almost certain that just about everyone with a television or a projector will be showing World Cup games, but just to be thorough, here are a few stragglers to our World Cup events roundup:

  • Flamme is making sure you experience a boozy World Cup at a discount by offering RMB 99 all you can drink Vedett IPA draft beer when you order a main course. More info
  • Modernista is celebrating the World Cup with a carnival tonight, with Brazilian band Mama Funker on stage and prepared to bring down the house. More info

Want to celebrate at home? Here's how to throw a World Cup party that everyone will be talking about.

And just because the World Cup is happening, doesn't mean the world stops. Here's what else is going down this weekend:

  • Fez is celebrating half a decade on Saturday with a night full of beats by DJ Yin Mai, free flow drinks, cocktails a la Grand Marnier, and house pours. More info
  • DJ Eddie Lv celebrates his birthday at The Loop party at d Lounge and wants you to join him. Tickets gets you a free delectable cocktail from their special list and DJ QQ is doing a surprise live set. More info
  • The final FEAST party will convene for the last time with roasted animals, horns, dancing, and a barrage of bands, including Xia Yue Tuan, Chicago Blues Brothers, and The Beijing Dead. More info
  • Release returns with some of the top names in electronic music, including headliner DJ Vato Gonzales, MC Tjen, and Outsiders (you’ll remember them from the Strawberry Music Festival). Talented local support by BB Deng, Bite-Size Buddha, Oshi, WengWeng, and more. More info
  • Saturday, Hot Chip members Felix Martin and Al Doyle grace the decks on the Migas terrace. More info

  • 4corners bounces back tonight after a brief closure for renovations. With it comes DJs, free shots, new food and specials from American bartender Tom Koerner who will be infusing his own liquors and bitters. More info

I'm off to check out the new booze and bites at Q Mex, and you can try it all too (after watching the World Cup of course), starting at 9pm. For more Nightlife events on this weekend, see our Editors Picks or our newsletter here.
