Weekend Picks in Nightlife: Cazzette, Another Pool Party, and Dada Anniversary
Below our top picks for a night out this weekend. Don't miss out on knowing about the best events in Beijing – see our Editor's Picks.
Tonight
DJ Compact Dicks and Cousin Kippy scavenge their digital libraries for the best of ’80s camp, post-punk nihilism, and B-side stadium rock anthems impossible not to cream your jeans over. For one night only, taste trumps talent. Find them at Dada starting at 10pm.
Saturday
This is it folks, this is the last summer courtyard party and barbecue by The Sanctuary, so get in on this chill courtyard party while you can. The Other Place will exhibit some of the best Beijing-based DJs spinning outdoors, featuring music from BB Deng, Charm, Juhstynn, Ralph Zuckermann, and Zhi Qi. There will be no THRIFT pop up this time, but they'll be collecting your used threads for charity, so don't forget to bring them.
Dada is celebrating two years of corrupting Beijing’s youth. Expect plenty of excellent DJs and free drinks for the freakishly dressed. DJs Ralph Zuckermann, Compact Dicks and more are sure to keep the party going till your head explodes.
The weather is starting to cool off just a tiny bit, but don't worry, the pool parties keep coming. Dope Temptation, Peng Label and Aurora Events are jointly bringing you a pool party in (relatively) smog-free Shunyi. Peng will provide the turntable talent, and with free-flow drinks and food all day long, there will be worse ways to spend your Saturday. For prices and more information, go here.
The Orchid Hotel, newly opened in Dashilar, and Spoonful of Sugar are collaborating in a deal that gets guests meat and cheese boards at half price when ordered with wine on Saturday and a discount password to Sunday's pyjama party brunch for free cocktails and other goodies. Dienastie eyewear will be on hand to give away free pairs of sunglasses to those who show up with the best pyjamas. Click here for more information.
Sunday
Chef Andreas Block of The Cut joins up with Great Leap Brewing for one last The Chef and The Brewer event. He will be bringing some of The Cut's best-loved dishes, including giant Australian steaks and their deconstructed Apple Pie, to the kitchen at Great Leap's no. 12 Xinzhong Lu location. RSVP required. More info here.
Stockholm-breakouts turned Billboard-chart toppers Cazzette return to Beijing before headlining Shanghai's Budweiser Storm Festival in October. A show not to be missed – if only to cop a load of their whacky headwear.
Finally, if you're just looking for a spot to sip a cocktail or two this weekend, why not try one of these original cocktails at some of your favorite bars?
Have you checked out these new bars in our August issue of the magazine yet?
