This Week: Loft Eatalicious Opening in Shuangjing, Carnivore's Club Dinner, End of Summer Barbecues
With the weather getting noticeably cooler over the past few days, we imagine you'll want to grab any opportunity to eke out the last few weeks of summer. Luckily, there's still a couple of events around town that will help you do just that.
The Regent Hotel at Dengshikou have just introduced a weekend lunchtime barbecue (Saturday to Sunday, 11.30am-3pm) in their secluded garden. RMB 158 (plus 15 percent service charge) gets you a selection of meats from the grill, plus fries and salad, followed by a dessert place. I tried it out the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meats on offer. If you're looking for a more casual atmosphere, Great Leap are still firing up the grill for burgers on Sundays at their 6 Doujiao Hutong location.
After successful openings in Wangjing and Shunyi, authentic Italian joint Loft Eatalicious is bringing it back downtown with a new location in Shuangjing's Fuli City. Their official opening party is this Friday night and in the first few days after the party if you follow them on WeChat you can get a free americano coffee.
Don't forget Restaurant Week starts this Thursday, September 4. You can still book tables for popular restaurants like Chi, Mosto and Huang Ting.
A few picks for dining events this week:
- Friday September 5: Feast at the East Hotel are holding another one of their Carnivore's Club Dinners, this time with the help of guest chef Andrew Ahn of One Pot by Ssam. The beef-focused menu will feature dishes such as ox tongue with a Korean twist.
- Saturday September 6: Plan B is out to prove they serve Beijing's best burger at their Second Anniversary Party and Burger Bash. RMB 100 gets you all the burgers you can eat, plus beer and sangria, from 4-7pm.
- Sunday September 7: Learn about Dutch-Chinese cooking at The Hutong with Chef Sue Zhou and The Cleaver Quarterly. Participants will learn how to make loempia (giant spring rolls) and will also receive a copy of The Cleaver's newly-released second issue.
