Snowball fights, skiing, and hot chocolate – winter wouldn’t be the same without these fun seasonal outdoor activities. The surge of excitement as you fly down the powdery slopes, the wind hitting your cheeks, and the cold sparkling air all contribute to an exhilarating ski holiday. Imagine the sheer pleasure of waking up each morning to snow-capped mountains and wondering what excitement the day will bring. If you are looking for a snowy winter break, look no further …
Niseko, Japan
The Whistler of Japan, the Chamonix of Hokkaido, Niseko has been rated by many as the best ski resort in Japan if not Asia. With 30 lifts and gondolas, three ski fields, 47 km of groomed slopes, Niseko caters to all levels of skiers and boarders. There are many legendary tree runs and open powder bowls, plus many wide, beautifully groomed runs and an abundance of powder-laced learning slopes. Many hotels offer ski-in, ski-out facilities for a convenient ski adventure.
Yuzawa, Japan
Relax on the famous bullet train from Tokyo and in 77 minutes you will be swept from clear blue Tokyo skies to a winter wonderland in the heart of the Japanese Alps. Yuzawa is a famous Japanese resort town with 20 ski fields, and is known throughout Japan as "Snow Country". Given the huge amounts of snowfall and mountainous terrain, it was only natural that Yuzawa should become a mecca for skiing, snowboarding and winter sports. Back-country powder, friendly family resorts, terrain park jumps – Yuzawa offers it all."
Yabuli, China
Renowned as the home of ice and snow, Harbin holds its Annual Ice Festival from December to early February. Colorful, glittering ice sculptures decorate this northern snowy city whose architecture is strongly influenced by its Russian neighbor. Yabuli is within a short trip of the Russian border in Heilongjiang province in what used to be called Manchuria. Yabuli Ski Resort is China's largest ski area. In 1996, it was chosen as the site of the 3rd Asian Winter Games. With 20 slopes meandering down at 1,500-feet drops, you can expect good skiing in Yabuli.
