Beijing Entrepreneur, Japanese Porn Star Both Call BS on Viral Story
The internet was all a-flutter last week when a story broke that a Beijing entrepreneur had hired a Japanese porn star to be his personal assistant for 15 years, but both parties have now called BS on the viral story.
According to the rumors, a mysterious 25-year-old Chinese "billionaire" nicknamed Renzhen Ge (Brother Serious) in Beijing paid mixed-race Japanese porn star Rola Misaki (水咲萝拉, previously known as 泷泽萝拉) RMB 50 million for 15 years of service.
The rumor first came from a post on Sina Entertainment’s official weibo account on May 8 that stated “Rola was in Beijing with a mysterious man who wore a mask. The two attended an event together and interacted intimately. The mysterious man nicknamed Ren is a hidden billionaire, and he has made a RMB 50 million deal with Rola to hire her as his personal assistant for 15 years.”
However, both Rola and Brother Serious denied the deal almost immediately. “I saw it from the news this morning and was shocked," Brother Serious posted to his Weibo on May 8. "Am I a tuhao (nouveau riche) that would pay RMB 50 million for an escort? Bullsh*t!"
He explained that he was merely attending a press conference for the release of a new online martial arts game called Honorary Soul (傲魂, ao hun).
"I talked and interacted with her only because the MC asked me to do so," he said. "I have never signed such a deal and I would never do such a thing.”
Four days later on May 12, Misaki also wrote on her Weibo account “I’ve heard about the rumor and am deeply upset. The rumor is completely groundless, and I want to say sorry for all who concerned about me. Please don’t worry and keep supporting me!”
That didn't stop netizens in China from going bananas about the whole affair, and the Western press eagerly reported on it as well.
Born in 1992, half-Japanese, half-Russian Misaki made her adult video debut in 2012, and has gathered a huge following in China with 4.8 million followers on Weibo.
Japanese adult stars are frequently used to promote video games in China, the audience of which is primarily young and male.
Misaki's appeal in China could have something to do with the combination of her cute girl-next-door image and her appearance in adult films, which she says she's now sworn off of.
The whole thing reeks of a publicity stunt. Brother Serious keeps his identity secret in his social media postings, and is always pictured wearing a mask. Chinese internet sites are flush with netizens speculating and searching for the real identity of the masked tycoon.
Adding fuel to the rumors is the fact that Japanese adult video companies typically have a strict sets of regulations for their stars, one of which is to never disclose their relationship status, for fear that fans will lose interest to a star with a significant other.
