Great St. Patrick's Themed Parties to Soak in the Luck of the Irish
[Updated 3/17, 11am] We love holidays that haven’t been perverted by the act of gift giving. Though we guess St. Patrick's Day has been perverted by its own obligatory associations like gorging yourself with green colored beer and by drinking enough whiskey to kill a horse or at least a Tibetan Mastiff. Regardless here’s a complete list of what to expect when St. Paddy’s rolls around later in the month.

Mar 15-20: St. Patrick's Celebration Week at Paddy O’Shea’s
Innovation is key to any successful holiday. Why celebrate the life and memory of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Green Beer, with one measly day when it can be turned into an entire week of Irish-themed debauchery. We are pretty sure St. Patrick would not approve at how history has damaged his legacy but that is beside the point. Join Paddy O’Shea’s for an open mic night on the 15th, quiz night on the 16th, an all-night eager on the 17th, live Celtic music on the 18th, the last round of the Six Nations with Ireland vs. Scotland at 1am on the 19th, and finally, a scavenger hunt with an Irish twist on the 20th. For more info check out their event listing here. Paddy O'Shea's
Mar 17: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Slow Boat Brewery Taproom
On St. Patrick’s Day, Slow Boat will make sure you've got your Irish accent on: RMB 25 Zombie Pirate Pale Ale all night and Beijing “Car Bomb” (one shot with 3/4 shot of Jamesons and 1/4 shot of Bailey's and drop it into 1/3 pint of Slow Boat's Sea Anchor Imperial Vanilla Stout. This one is only served on St. Patrick’s Day). Moreover, if you order a Zombie Pirate Pale Ale with an Irish accent, you will get a further 5 RMB off! Slow Boat Brewery Taproom
Mar 17: I’m Not Irish But I Drink Anyway
Join Beer Mania as they blow up lots of green balloons and pour copious amounts of green Belgian beers for St. Patrick’s Day. While we don’t mind the cheap stuff they usually turn green at most pubs come this special day, doing it with Belgian beer will likely take it up a notch. The boss man at Beer Mania has even promised shooters for all who dress in green. This along with their special Thursday “Supersize Me” deal and tunes from DJ Peter Stone guarantees that there will be a fair amount of partying going on. Free. 7pm. Beer Mania
Mar 17: Eclectic Electric - St. Party's Night
There's nothing quite like stomping around to the sounds of big room EDM like a larger than life leprechaun, high on foamy brew. This and more can expected on any given Eclectic Electric night, brought to you by DJ Half/N/Half. Get over to Sanlitun Houjie’s Rec Room as they present a St. Patrick's day drunk-fest, celebrating Yinmai’s (DJ Half/N/Half) Irish half. Get your face painted green so that you can get black out and River Dance like a champion. Free. 10pm. Rec Room
Mar 17: St. Patrick's Day at Great Leap
Other than leprechauns, nothing says St. Paddy's Day like a pint of stout, actually make that many pints of stout. To mark this day casually associated with Ireland's love for drinking, they’ll have several taps of the black stuff flowing, including their Liu the Brave, Mocha, and Marsala stouts. Better yet, for the whole day, you'll get four pints of stout for RMB 100.
Mar 17: ShamRock Festival
While not outright a celebration of St. Paddy’s Day, we think the spirit of the holiday will be present here in full force. Experience a collection of fierce rock bands for you to thrash along with until the leprechauns come to steal your gold and reap general havoc. Jump The Fence, Joker's Belief, Paper Tigers, One Hung Low, and The Rebel 5 team up to bring you an amazing night filled with superb rock 'n' roll action. RMB 80, RMB 60 (advance). 9pm. Yugong Yishan
Mar 17: St. Patrick's Day with Traditional Irish Folk Rockers Blackwater
Known for whipping School Bar crowd into a drunken frenzy with their covers of songs by the Pogues and traditional Irish drinking songs, Blackwater returns to School Bar for a very special St. Patrick's Day show. There likely won’t be a St. Patrick's Day celebration in all of Beijing more authentic or rowdy than what is sure to be experienced at School on this particular evening. Get lucky at this raucous display of Irish pride. Free. 9.30pm. School Bar
Mar 17: Stick to Stout on St. Paddy's Day
京A is getting into the St. Paddy's Day spirit by offering a buy-two-get-one free deal all night long on their three luscious stouts, which include their famed Black Velvet Vanilla Stout, the ever so mighty Eightfold Path Imperial Stout, and the menacing Imperial Stormtrooper Stout, a collaboration brew with Arrow Factory. As for other holiday shenanigans, we’re sure this beer deal is only the tip of the iceberg. Free. 4pm-midnight. Jing-A Taproom
