Stock Up on Gifts for Friends Back Home as NLGX Design Liquidates Stock at Flagship Location

T-shirt and fashion brand NLGX Design is closing their shop on the hip alley that gave them their name, owners announced yesterday, but not before having a knock-down, drag-out sale to clear their stock.

On April 24, the shop on Nanluogu Xiang will be shutting its doors after eight years of serving the neighborhood, and so the time's ripe for great deals as they knock 30 percent or more off prices.

We're sad to hear this, as it gives us one less reason to visit Nanluogu Xiang and hang out with all of the other tourists of the world that crowd this tiny hutong.

The good news is that NLGX Design as a brand is not going anywhere; their goods will still be available at their shops in Beijing International Capital Airport (Terminal 2 and 3), perfect for grabbing a Beijing-centric gift when you are on your way home.

Not to be confused with Plastered T-Shirts (Nanluogu Xiang's other T-shirt emporium that opened in 2005 and will remain in place in their flagship store), NLGX Design was started in 2008 by two overseas Chinese entrepreneurs that were inspired by their experiences in the heady years leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Look for giveaways in store all month as well. We suggest you go early to get the good stuff before it sells out. Here are some of our picks (check their online shop for more):

For the hutong hipster
Beijing Bicycle T-shirt (USD 24): what more could you ask for, moustache wax made by former palace eunuchs?

For the flamboyant frequent flyer
Travel Pillows (USD 28): If you're traveling long-haul a lot, you might as well do it in style.

For the environmentally conscious fashionista
Recycled Newspaper Bag (USD 95) What a better way to signal your care for the planet.

For the rebel at heart
Do Not Destroy T (USD 16) Best of all, you can tell your friends who don't read Chinese that it means whatever it is you think they want to hear ("dude, it's the official Radiohead China Tour T-shirt!").

For the little ones
Kung Fu T (USD 20) Ain't nothing cooler than Kung Fu when you're under 10 years old.
