From the Front Lines: 3,000 Brave Drizzle, Schmutz on Day 1 of Pizza Fest; Cleaner Skies Forecast for Day 2

Gotta love Beijingers: They're a robust sort. Despite the threat of rain and near airpocalypse-level air quality, more than 3,000 poured through the gates at Wangjing Soho to enjoy pizza by the slice from 24 Beijing vendors, as well as 49 varieties of beer, live bands, kids activities and other fun.

If you were one of the many scared off by the bad weather, today, never fear: Saturday tickets will be honored Sunday as well.

The good news is the drizzling rain that is forecast for later this evening should pave the way for cleaner air tomorrow … not to mention that there will be little chance of rain Sunday.

Come check it out to give your tastebuds a ride before casting your ballot in our annual survey to choose the city's best pizza -- polls open Sunday night at 8pm.

There's plenty more on tap for activities Sunday as well as food, beer, gelato and a bunch of other goodies, so come on out.

Unfamiliar with Wangjing? It's just a 15 minute jaunt from Lido/798 and a half an hour Uber ride from Sanlitun.
