Celebrate Ramadan in Beijing: Where to Get Your Iftar Meal

Ramadan is just about to start, and with it comes the cherished tradition of the Iftar meal. Taking place after sundown, Iftar marks the end of the daily fast, which is traditionally broken with dates – a symbol of the meal’s beginning – followed by light snacks and evening prayers. It’s a time for family and friends to come together, celebrate, and share a meal after a day of fasting.

Here in Beijing, there are many restaurants offering Iftar meals during Ramadan, with everything from special set menus to buffets and more. Whether you're looking for a traditional spread or something a little different, Beijing has plenty to offer.

Turkish Feast

Turkish Feast will be doing a special Iftar Set Meal (RMB 168/person) again this year, which will run from Mar 1 to Mar 30. The set includes fresh dates, soup of the day, fresh salad, a rotating main course, rice pilaf, fresh bread, Ramadan desserts and drinks. For the rotating main course, they've got ten different options, and you can see which main course will be served on which days in the poster below. They've also created a helpful poster with timings for Sahur (also known as Suhoor), the pre-dawn meal, and Iftar each day, which you can see below.

Dastaan Restaurants

This year, all three of Dastaan's restaurants will be offering Iftar specials over the course of Ramadan.

Dastaan

Dastaan will be offering a daily Iftar Dinner Buffet (RMB 148/adult, RMB 68/child) from 6pm until 10pm from Mar 1 to Mar 30. They will have three different menus on rotation (see below), and each one includes a vast array of their authentic Indian dishes cooked to perfection.

Along with the buffet, they also have a Ramadan Iftar Box (RMB 138) available for dine-in and delivery, which includes a drink, salad, soup, starter, main course and dessert. See more details below.

Lastly, they have Dastaan's Grandma's Recipe Haleem (RMB 58), a lamb and lentil stew that's slow-cooked for over ten hours and whose recipe has been passed down through generations. It will be available from Mar 1 to Mar 31. To order, scan the QR code in the poster below.

Bollywood Tales

Bollywood Tales will also be offering a Dabba Wala Iftar Box (RMB 118) over Ramadan, which can be enjoyed for dine-in or delivery. It features a drink, appetizers, starter, main course and dessert. You can see the full details below.

Sumac

During Ramadan, Lebanese restaurant Sumac will be doing an Iftar Set Menu (RMB 358/person), which features Hariri Soup, cold mezze, hot mezze, rotating main dishes, desserts and Ramadan beverages. Each day there will be two different main dishes available, and you can see the details of them in the poster below.

Along with the Iftar menu, Sumac will also be doing a Suhoor Menu (RMB 268/person), which will be available every day from 10pm until midnight and includes cold mezze, hot mezze and your choice of dessert. Check the poster below for more information.

Malaysian restaurant Laksa Queen by MULU will be offering an All-You-Can-Eat Set Dinner (RMB 128) during Ramadan. The set menu will change daily, and diners can ask for refills for whichever dish they like. The set meal will feature a range of Laksa Queen's signature Malaysian dishes and also includes dates and drinks. Signature's Restaurant at Kempinski Hotel Beijing will be putting on a special Ramadan Dinner Buffet (RMB 358/person) from Mar 3 to Mar 29, 6pm-9.30pm. There will a range of Arabic dishes available such as Lamb Ouzy, Chicken Shawarma, Grilled Haloumi, Basboussa and Walnut-Pistachio Baklava. They will also have drinks available like Homemade Jallab and Arabic Coffee.
