Get Croissant (for RMB 1), Breads, Cakes and Mooncakes From Comptoirs De France's New Online Shop
As a shameless fan of the award-winning Comptoirs de France – first opened in 2005 – we always drop by their outlet not just for the buy-one-get-one pastries (especially croissants), but also for their authentic and honest cakes, coffee and salads. A little background for those who are unfamiliar: owner Benjamin Devos’ family mill started producing high-quality flour to make bread in France in 1855, passing their recipes along for generations, before the company established 13 outlets in Beijing and Shanghai.
If you want to avoid the hassle of traveling for a daily breakfast, or if you are used to using your phone for food instead of heading out into the pollution? Ordering online seems the answer to everything. To deal with the issue of delivering cakes, Comptoirs de France has just launched its own online shop, as well as a Taobao shop, and a JD shop, after more than half a year of preparation. From those online shops, customers can order their favorite breads, pastries, chocolates, cakes, and tarts.
We are big fans of the flakey and moist croissant, based on the family's original recipe, with wheat flour, sugar, and 82% butter without preservatives, as well as the lemon cheese bread, which is tangy and citrusy with orange peel, chocolate beans, and rum. As for the cakes, the rich chocolate truffle cake (RMB 338 for 2 pounds) has been popular since they first started the bakery, and is made with Valrhona chocolate, Elle & Vire cream, and Milkana milk. It is rich with layers of chocolate flavor, subtle bitterness, acidic cocoa, and a smooth taste. Le Fraisier, the strawberry cake (RMB 358) is also delicious with fresh strawberries, cream, and milk. The mini pastries set (RMB 158) includes two mini raspberry lychee éclairs, two mini chocolate éclairs, four mini green tea cheese éclairs, four mini chocolate tartlets, and four mini lemon tartlets.
For the coming Mid-Autumn Festival, Comptoirs de France also provides three different mooncake combos to suit all the tastes: a traditional Chinese box with four mooncakes (RMB 288, with flavors of mung bean egg yolk, nuts & ham, lotus & egg yolk, and black sesame); a traditional French box with two mooncakes, a bag of Madeleine, and four jars of jam; and a "gift" box (RMB 288), with two traditional mooncakes, and eight chocolate bonbons. All are now available on their online shops and outlets.
To celebrate the new store's launch, there are several promotions going until October 31,
- Buying anything on all three online shops will get you a voucher that you can use next time;
- RMB 1 will get you a croissant (each person can only buy once);
- Free gift with delivery.
All the breads and pastries are baked fresh daily. If you put an order in before 9am, the goods can be delivered on the same day; if you order after 9am, then they will arrive the next day, or on whatever date you request. Delivery is free if your order is over RMB 200. Check their online shop, Taobao shop, and JD shop to order.
