OriginalFresh: Delicious Smoothies with Fresh Ingredients at Pacific Century Place
Pacific Century Place is emerging with many choices for healthy on the go, such as Cup One and Levante’s. Its most recent addition, however, might be the quickest and healthiest of all, and we're drinking it up: the smoothies of OriginalFresh.
OriginalFresh is neat and clean with minimalist décor and a clean-cut white counter. The fruits behind the large counter let you know what you're in for, and the posters on the wall do the same: this place is centered around nothing but the freshest of fruits. But good things come at a cost. Menu here is divided into several categories – single fruit juice (RMB 38), mixed fruit juice (RMB 26-38), smoothies that can serve as an entire meal replacement (RMB 31-35), fruits with berries (RMB 35), yoghurt blends (RMB 31), and fruits with avocado (RMB 35-48). For the smoothies, you can choose normal yogurt, low-fat frozen yogurt, milk, or skim milk. If you are building muscles, you could also add protein powder (RMB 8), and L-carnitine (RMB 8).
Among the dazzling forty choices, we ordered the popular avocado shake (RMB 38). Unfortunately, during our visit, they ran out of milk, so we opted for an avocado coconut shake (RMB 48) instead, featuring avocado, coconut water, and low-fat frozen yogurt. There are a handful seats in the shop where you can take a rest while waiting and watch the staff work. We saw them peel and cut the avocado, and mix it with coconut water and yogurt in the blender – purity and simplicity executed before our very eyes.The drink was very creamy and rich with a strong coconut flavor. As an avocado and coconut lover, this drink was irresistibly good. The ice-cold creamy texture benefited from the yogurt. Be careful: you might end up slurping the whole thing up in one sip like us.
The drink is invigorating and quite filling. At the moment, RMB 500 will get you a membership, saving you RMB 10 on any drink at a dozen of their locations throughout China. Skip the queue to get the coffee at the "mermaid coffee" – the fresh drinks at OriginalFresh are a good alternative to brighten your day and boost your energy.
