The Job Hunt: Rubber R&D Director, Fashion Design Teacher, Scientific Videographer, Assistant to a President
Who wants to spend their Beijing days locked up in a boring, dead-end job, with horrible colleagues you'd rather never see again? As our beloved reader, you should know that you don't have to submit yourself to such an unbearable life of sadness. Instead, take a look below at the best of our job classifieds.
R&D Director in the 'Tire and Rubber Formulation Field'
Are you passionate about tires? Well if you are, that's kinda weird, but good, because HXH Rubber Industry Group is looking for a "tyre and rubber" research and development director. HXH claims to be an "international, diversified and innovation-oriented enterprise group" with a hand in a broad range of sectors: "the rubber industry ... electricity generation, new energy, metal products, bio-engineering, real estate development, healthcare, capital operations, and more." This position is a dream scenario for any chemical engineers out there: you'll be supplied with the necessary materials and facility, and the objective of making the best tire rubber out there. The only downside: they'll patent your work for themselves and eventually give you the boot.
Executive Assistant to President at SPF Capital
SPF Capital is looking for an assistant to the or a president of the company. They are an energy, real estate, and infrastructure investment firm located in the Fortune Financial Center in Chaoyang. They can provide a visa and the ad claims the job will pay somewhere from RMB 25,000 to 30,000. The ad also claims that this is a great way to get into the financial biz, with no banking or finance degree necessarily required. You just need to be a native English speaker with "a professional appearance," a Bachelors degree or higher, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and basic business and technology abilities. This job also involves quite a bit of travel (which could be great or exhausting, but if you're a foreigner living in Beijing, you'll probably love it.)
Fashion Design Teacher
Short and sweet – possibly a reflection of their design aesthetic. Someone is looking for a fashion design teacher to teach an 80-hour course in Chinese or English. This appears to be a new Beijing-based program of an Italian-based fashion academy, but there's so little information in this post that I really can't write that with confidence. They don't even provide contact info or required credentials. But it is clear that you'll be shaping young minds and brands, that students are expected to "have a portfolio" by the end of the program, and that you will be housed and fed.
Videographer for Scientific Journal
JoVe (Journal of Visualized Experiments) is looking for videographers to conduct and record experiments for their database. Videographers must have their own "professional HD camera, wireless lavalier, directional microphone, and 3-way fluid or gearhead tripod. Lighting kits are a bonus." So you won't get much support from them in the way of equipment, but they will pay USD 500 per shoot, so borrow stuff from a friend and use the profits to invest in your own. BOOM. (I mean that in the, "Success!" way, not like an actual explosion, unless the experiment you're recording involves an explosion, which would be awesome.
