Only 14 Seats Left for Nov 10’s Chi Fan for Charity Gala Dinners

Tickets are being gobbled up fast for next week's annual Chi Fan for Charity. But if you're late the proverbial ticket buying party don't worry – there's still a chance to ward off hunger pains and the disappointment of missing out on the foodie event of the year that features nearly 600 diners at 56 restaurants, the proceeds for which go to students in need.

Here are the restaurants where you can still squeeze in, along with the tempting eats on offer (spaces are RMB 500 a pop):

Tribe (three seats left)

  • Coconut Milk Pumpkin Soup
  • Spring Splash Salmon (roast salmon, mashed green peas, spinach, tomato salsa, and lemon)
  • Raw Chocolate "cheesecake" (cocoa nibs, pistachio, and cashew)
  • One red or white wine
  • One tea or coffee

Side Street (5 seats left)

  • Ribeye steak
  • Cream cheese and goat cheese-stuffed mushrooms
  • Carrot cake with ice cream

Great Leap (6 seats left)

  • One main (either one burger per person or one whole pizza split between two people)
  • An appetizer
  • A salad
  • One dessert
  • Free-flow drinks for the duration of the event (a typical value of RMB 400, which combined with the RMB 200 of the food makes for an RMB 600 total value)

Between those three varied restaurants, diners of all stripes and preferences should be able to find a satisfying option.

Tim Chia, chief marketing officer at Tribe says the health-conscious restaurant has been eagerly supporting Chi Fan for Charity for "the past few years, and we're proud to be a part of it. If you've not gotten a seat yet, we highly encourage you to because you won't just get a healthy and tasty organic meal for a great price but you will also be eating for a really good cause!"

Thus far the foodie-centric fundraiser is on track to make over RMB 400,000 for this year's designated charity, Educating Girls of Rural China. Impressive as that total sounds, it's made all the more meaningful by how the proceeds will be broken down, and just how far your renminbi will go.

RMB 6,000, for instance, covers one year's university tuition for one of the charity's sponsored students, who wouldn't have access to such an opportunity. The coordinators put it this way: "That means our funding is likely to pay for a collective 67 years of university education for underprivileged women from rural provinces in China – or 17 full four-year degrees."

Chi Fan for Charity will be held Nov 10 at 56 different restaurants around town. To snatch up the remaining seats at Great Leap, Tribe, and Side Street, click here. The free-flow drink laden afterparty, for which all ticket holders have free access to (and others can join for RMB 500), will be held at Xian bar, which you can read more about here.
