Dustin and Konstantin of Giegling
DJs and producers Dustin and Konstantin are core members of Giegling, an underground label garnering plenty of positive praise in both their hometown of Weimar, Germany as well as far away as, well, Beijing. Together, the two DJs will hold down dance floor at Zhao Dai on Thursday (minimal set) and Friday (techno set) for an alluring mini-residency. Vini Vici
Made up of two-thirds of the popular Israeli psytrance trio Sesto Sento, Matan Kadosh and Aviram Saharai have been recording and touring in their side project Vini Vici in earnest since 2015. That was the year when Vini Vici broke through with their hit "The Tribe", which became a mainstay on many a club dance floor. Mun Sing Scissor EP Release
Prepare to have your limits pushed by this uncompromising producer, who will drop his new EP at Dada on Friday. His propensity for hard-hitting, dissonant rhythms, and futuristic sci-fi-style synths make for a surreal and distinctive dance floor experience that’s not to be missed. RMB 80. Doors open at 10pm. Psytrance at Aurora
Psytrance certainly seems to be the flavor de jour, with more and more clubs dedicating evenings to that sub-genre as of late. Not to be outdone, Aurora will play host to local psytrance project Ding, consisting of Beijing DJs like Third Wave, Bodysnatcher, Angry5Jar, and Balance, all of whom have a brazen and intense take on the engrossing and trendy genre. QNA and Yeonjun
A pair of Korean underground dance music legends, Beton Brut’s QNA and Mystik’s Yeonjun make their way to Lantern for a night of innovative techno and house. Both of these DJs began their careers in the late '90s and have carved deep niches for themselves, making their appearance at Lantern hotly anticipated among Beijing house music fanatics. Natural Flavor Party!
Gongti nightclub Playhouse Global dedicates its Friday setlist to '90s hip-hop classics, reggae hits, and funk mainstays. Nightmares On Wax
Leeds-hailing producer and DJ Nightmares on Wax will appear at Dada for what is sure to be one of the club’s most memorable sets of the year. Known for his downtempo, trip-hop, and hip-hop productions and performances, Nightmares on Wax is sure to plumb the dark depths and unsurfaced subtle moments of euphoria during his Beijing show. ND Baumecker at Zhao Dai
Berlin DJ ND Baumecker performs at Zhao Dai this Saturday, to spin the techno, electro, minimal, and disco tracks that helped make him build a name for himself back in Germany. Shao
Chinese electronic music veteran Shao heads to Lantern on Saturday, laying down a tense and complex yet endlessly danceable setlist. Having gotten his start in 2002, and making a name for himself under the moniker Dead J, he has remained prolific and well regarded in an ever-evolving scene, making this forthcoming Lantern set all the more memorable and hot on the heels of his opening set for Four Tet two weekends ago. Nu Beatz
Aurora launches a new project calls Nu Beats for up-and-comers looking to show off their prowess. Among the newbies to be showcased on this inaugural night are Kalion and Fritz Zacharias, who the club's owners hope will be the first of many to build the series into a platform for a wide array of burgeoning talent.
