5 Things to Taste, Smell, Touch, Hear, and See, May 17-19

Beijing can be an overstimulating place to live, to say the least. Let’s be real: sometimes even our sixth sense (the one that tells you when that stick of chuan'r will make you sick for the next two days) gets a decent workout. May 19: Plant Power at Moka Bros
We like plants in our bellies just as much as on our windowsills so we were happy to hear that health-conscious Moka Bros is reaching outside the usual foodie circle in an attempt to attract a diverse audience of eaters with this Plant Power event, stating that "you don't have to be vegan to like plant-based food." We heartily agree! May 19: Destination Patio Opening With Slow Boat
It's usually about the journey, but this time it is all about the Destination (yeah, we did). Being able to spend quality time outside is not something Beijingers take for granted at any time of the year, but in addition to air quality concerns, come July the scorching temperatures will mean that even drinking a cold pint of beer won't be enough to cool us down. If you had to choose one musical instrument to kick off a wild dance party, what would it be? If you answered "the accordion," you are correct. May 18: Moonglow Cabaret
Leave Beijing behind this Saturday night and enter the dreamy wonderland of Moonglow Burlesque's latest production "Enchanted Garden." Described as a "romantic interactive burlesque show in style of art nouveau," the show is divided into five performances, featuring stunning costumes, poetry, and of course sexy burlesque dances. Follow the story of Clementine as she discovers the keys to her feminine nature back in the 1910s, despite the social and moral taboos of the time. Expect plenty of fun, saucy entertainment certainly not suitable for the entire family. 9pm. RMB 200 (includes one drink). Inception
