Dec 5-7: Sake pairing menu with Kazuo Takagi at Opera Bombana
Not to feel left out of the first-ever round of Beijing Michelin Guide entrants, Opera Bombana has invited a two Michelin-starred Japanese chef, Kazuo Takagi, to cooperate on a series of lunch and dinner events, alongside world-renowned Sake master Ueno Toshio and mixologist Jonny Amir from Zest by Konishi in Hong Kong. The menu, available for dinner on Dec 5 and lunch and dinner on Dec 6-7, is priced at RMB 1,688 per person, with the option to add a sake pairing for RMB 688. For a more affordable entry point, from 6-8pm on Dec 5, mixologist Jonny Amir will be serving a selection of sake-based cocktails priced at RMB 78 each.
Dec 6-8: TRB Forbidden City welcomes last guest chef of 2019
After a successful run of chef collaborations in 2019, TRB Forbidden City is welcoming its last guest chef of the year, chef Laurens Snykers from restaurant Zoethout in Belgium. The restaurant is built on an ancient farm in the province of Limburg, allowing Snykers to grown his own fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Sample his food in a four-course lunch menu priced at RMB 488 (RMB 816 with wine pairing) or in a five-course dinner menu priced at RMB 888 (RMB 1,316 with wine pairing).
Dec 7: Yunnan fusion dinner at The Hutong
Join Chef Sue Zhou at The Hutong for an interactive dinner exploring the food of Yunnan. The southwesterly province is home to more than 20 different ethnic minorities, each with their own cuisine and specialty dishes, and has also been highly influenced by the cuisine of surrounding countries like Vietnam and Cambodia. Having always been a popular option in Beijing, Chef Zhou's four-course meal, including a Yunnan mushroom platter, Hani-style peanut soup, and Dai-style roasted lemongrass chicken, is a great opportunity to explore it further. Dec 8: Festive brunch at Zarah
Get an early start on your Christmas festivities at Zarah on Sunday, Dec 8, with their festive Christmas brunch. The brunch buffet will feature Christmassy treats from around the world, including Yorkshire pudding, German lebkuchen, freshly baked Christmas cookies, and roasted candied almonds, as well as Zarah's usual selection of brunch favorites. Brunch is priced at RMB 198 per person or for RMB 298 you can enjoy free flow of Jing-A beer, wines, prosecco, cocktails, and Zarah's Beijing-famous mulled wine.
