The Daily Bagel re-opens for in-house dining

After more than 360 days, The Daily Bagel is finally re-opening for in-house dining. Closing for Spring Festival at the end of January 2020, they found their reopening date thwarted on various occasions by COVID-19 outbreaks, although they kept delivering throughout. Now, they're coming back fighting with a new bagelwich, the Philly cheesesteak, which features sliced beef, their own homemade cheese wiz, a combination of red and yellow onions, and jalapeño slices. Find them at 39 Maizidian Xijie on the first floor of the office building facing the street. Of course, if you don't fancy dining out at the moment (and we wouldn't blame you), their bagels and bagelwiches are still available to order via Meituan and JSS.  

New brunch dishes at Beersmith

Beersmith is ringing in the new year with some new brunch dishes. Try the huevos a la flamenca, a seasonal vegetable casserole topped with baked eggs, Spanish chorizo, and ham, or go for something veggie with the grilled polenta topped with mushroom ragu and a touch of truffle. The sweet-toothed among us will love the berry and banana waffles, which come smothered in maple syrup yogurt-white chocolate sauce, and cinnamon. The brunch dishes are available every day, 11.30am-4.30pm. On Saturdays, keep the brunch fun rolling way into the evening with their, frankly, extraordinarily good value all-you-can-drink deal: four hours of free-flow beer, wine, and sparkling wine from 4-8pm for RMB 158 (until Feb 28).

Jan 23: Last chance for cheese fondue at Zarah

Don't miss Zarah's last cheesy fondue party of the season this Saturday, Jan 23. They'll be holding a three-hour celebration of melted cheese, featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet of appetizers and fondue dippers like cold cuts, baby potatoes, and even purple potatoes. The fondue is priced at RMB 228 per person, including one regular portion of fondue and access to the buffet. You can add extra fondue for RMB 98 per person.

Jan 19-24: The Bake Shop x Fu Rong Ji pop-up

This weekend, two of The Orchid's popular venues – bakery and casual eatery The Bake Shop and modern dim sum restaurant Fu Rong Ji – are joining forces for a pop-up menu of fusion brunch dishes. The menu items feature The Bake Shop's popular breads combined with fillings inspired by some of Fu Rong Ji's most popular dim sum. For example, the grilled chicken curry cheese sandwich (RMB 68) is inspired by Fu Rong Ji's chicken curry filled sesame balls, stuffed into challah bread and grilled with mozzarella and gouda cheese. We also fancy the look of the scrambled eggs and chashao pork on toasted challah bread (RMB 78). The dishes are available to order at both venues daily, Jan 19-24, from 10am-7pm.
