EAT: Courtyard 4 to Lose Power Temporarily, Hulu Opens in Shunyi, 50% at Beyond Yakitori

Hulu opens in Shunyi
Shunyiites have something big to celebrate this weekend with the announcement that Hulu is set to open a second venue imminently, taking over the space that used to house the sports bar Fella's. Proving hugely popular since launching in Sanlitun's Taikooli back in 2018, Hulu takes the best of TRB's dining (impeccable service, excellent presentation – see above) and reworks it into a more casual and affordable dining affair. That same formula will come as a welcome treat for Shunyi, where options for upper-end Western dining can prove a little scarce.
Courtyard 4 to lose power temporarily
If you're planning to go get brunch at Sanlitun's Courtyard 4 on Saturday, you might want to call ahead to check that your restaurants of choice will be open. That's because the popular F&B hub that holds Q Mex, Homeplate, Taco Bar, De Refter, The Local, and The Rug, among others, is scheduled to have a power outage between 8.30am-5pm. However, some venues, such as Q Mex, have made arrangements to remain open with the help of a generator. Slow Boat, whose brewpub sits on the southwest corner of the complex facing Nansanlitun Lu, will be unaffected by the outage and also remain open.
Bottega Xinyuanli closed
Additionally, Bottega's Xinyuanli venue (and the newly relaunched Vesuvio) will be closed for several days while they fix an issue related to water leakage in the restaurant. There's no word on when exactly they'll reopen but it may be that diners will need to wait a week or so while repairs are being made. Watch this space.
Beyond Yakitori reopens
Fans of endless skewers and sake will be happy to hear that Beyond Yakitori on the third floor of Sanlitun's Topwin Mall will reopen as of Monday. To celebrate, they're offering 50 percent all yakitori until May 3. If you don't know where to begin, we highly recommend the beef tongue and chicken meatball skewers, the latter of which comes with a creamy and raw egg yolk for dipping.
Fast food dining for the ages
Finally, while many fast food outlets across town remain closed because of the coronavirus, only serving customers via delivery, it seems like things are slowly opening back up. The proof? This image, posted by Alexander Parini on Twitter, shows how one Beijing Burger King has gone to great lengths to keep diners separated and safe. However, there's no word on whether afternoon naps are permitted just yet.
