Beijing Health Kit App Gets New Functions for Foreigners
The Beijing Health Kit app for foreigners has finally been updated to include QR code scanning and nucleic acid test confirmation – features that have been available in the Chinese version of the app for weeks.
Beijingers have been relying on the Beijing Health Kit app (健康宝) to enter venues, shopping malls, neighborhoods, workplaces, and other public areas since the pandemic took hold of the city earlier this year. However, an update to the standard health kit meant to make the registration process smoother by foregoing the manual sign-in process ended up complicating things for foreigners, who were unable to use the function.
Finally, over the weekend an updated version was released allowing expats to use the scanning function to prove their health status. Simply click on the button that says: "Scan the QR Code to Register" and scan any health kit QR code around town. Your health status will pop up after scanning successfully.
Additionally, if you scroll down to the very bottom of the Beijing Health Kit app home page, you will see a new button: “My Nucleic Acid Testing Result.” Should you receive the test – which hopefully nobody has to do now that there are fewer and fewer cases in the city – this function will allow you to check your results.
If you still haven't registered for the Health Kit, you can follow our handy instructions here.
Stay safe and healthy, Beijingers!

Yes did that.On the day the changes were made a week ago today i was not aware of the changes so oinly realised when i was out that afternoon.Try retaking the passport photo. It worked for me.
It's a good idea to check the app before you go out as I'm sure you've learned but I'll mention it just in case.

Actually no. It's not exactly the same: the venues are generating their own unique Health Kit QR code, so when you scan it you're actually registering your data (which you'd previously have written by hand) automatically at the same time as showing your health status.
You can check the log of which venues you've scanned into like this by clicking the little clipboard icon on the right of the 'Scan QR Code to Register' menu item.
Simply click on the button that says: "Scan the QR Code to Register"
Dumb, dumb, dumb. The new "feature" is redundant. It does nothing more than the Query On Me function.
I appreciate your comment, but the reality is, it is splitting hairs. The scan or Query Me functions are to make sure (even though neither really do this) that a person is virus-free. As everyone knows, asymptotic persons are running around undetected, so the ability to document a persons comings and goings is kind of pointless. Not only that, but taking a person's temperature is pointless. Futhermore, ALL of the places that I've visited who have the BHK QR code displayed accepted my Query On Me results.
Left hand, meet right hand.
Maybe in a hundred years we'll have a clue as to how to handle this virus. Doubtful, but maybe.

Re: Beijing Health Kit App Gets New Functions for Foreigners
Got a message saying I have a bug on my Wechat also tried to use the health kit when on Wanfujing earlier this evening got told to try later as too many people using it never had this problem before.I noticed this new version on Saturday but had problems uploading it as it asked for a certificate number.I found out later this was my passport number which would have made things easier if it was wrote passport number or even ID number.
With all of its bugs, erm, features, you should feel lucky you got it to work. Congrats.
