Keepin' It Safely Spicy at Hot & Spicy Fest 2020
While the safety and wellbeing of our readers is always at the forefront of everything the Beijinger does, this year more than ever we’re working overtime to ensure that everyone who attends the Hot & Spicy Festival, Aug 14-16 at Galaxy Soho can do so with peace of mind, confident that they’ll leave the event happier and healthier – well, we can’t promise you won’t gorge yourself on a semi-unhealthy amount of tacos and margaritas – than when they arrived.
For a quick recap, at the time of publication, the last new case in Beijing was reported on Friday, Aug 7, with Chaoyang District specifically having gone more than 50 days without a new infection. All of which is to say that the capital is definitely on the up and up. Good work, Beijingers!
In order to keep those numbers where they are, however, we will be following the same guidelines that have become all but ubiquitous around town, including temperature and Health Kit checks upon entry. If you haven’t already downloaded the Health Kit WeChat mini-program, you can follow our handy instructions to ensure that nothing stands in the way of your belly and a self-induced four-alarm fire. Likewise, when entering or exiting Galaxy Soho and when you're not busy stuffing your face with all things chili pepper, we would encourage you to mask up. And of course, for any immediate issues, there will be a medical tent and trained staff on-site throughout the duration of the festivities.
Meanwhile, we’re keeping a close eye on the weather, and although Friday and Saturday are looking free and clear, Sunday is shaping up to be a bit gloomier. Rest assured though, we’re not going to let a little rain ruin an otherwise perfect event. Nevertheless, you might want to bring an umbrella just to be on the safe side. Better yet, wrap a wide-brimmed sombrero in plastic and wear your umbrella!
The countdown is on, Beijing! See you in two days!
